Hyatt Ziva Cancun is one of the top family friendly resorts in Cancun, Mexico, and a fabulous place for luxury destination weddings. This gorgeous resort sits at the tip of the Cancun Hotel Zone peninsula, offering stunning views of turquoise waters on three sides of the property. It’s one of my absolute favorite resorts in Mexico, and has so much to offer its wedding couples, wedding guests, and vacationers!

Lots of the property is made for families – from unique kids’ cabanas by the pools, to delicious sweet treats at the pastry and ice cream shop, to a fun, themed restaurant, kids’ entertainment, and more! But lots of the property is also geared toward adults. There’s an on-site micro brewery, a virtual golf experience, an adults-only building and rooftop pool, and an entire stretch of the resort that directly faces the ocean, without a kids’ pool in sight!

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is truly one of my favorite resorts to send wedding groups that include children, but also have some adults who want a luxurious experience and a room without kids next door. It’s a very quick, convenient drive from the airport. The food and drinks are delicious. The service is incredible, and the views simply cannot be beat!

Good to Know

• Minimum length of stay for contracted groups: 3 nights (this is standard with almost all all-inclusive resorts)
• Ocean view and ocean front rooms truly do have those views! Ocean View = a view of the ocean, not just a tiny sliver of ocean available to see from the corner of your room. There are only 5 rooms on property that do not have some sort of ocean view – so the odds are definitely in your favor!
• Rooms available for families of 5+
• Connecting rooms available – it costs $60 per night to guarantee your connecting rooms. (Exception is Dec 20 – Jan 2, when connecting rooms are on request only and cannot be confirmed)
• Opportunities for Oceanfront Dining a few times per week
• Babysitting services are available on-site with a prior request, at an additional cost.
• The resort unfortunately DOES have a timeshare “Playa Collection” and or “Hyatt Vacation Club” – definitely avoid them both at all costs!
• This resort is NOT a good fit for couples and families who are looking for an exciting nightlife scene on property. 

What is and isn’t included at Hyatt Ziva Cancun?

Like most all inclusive resorts, most things that you want and need are already included.  To put it very simply, all food, drinks, snacks, and general amenities are included. Daily and nightly entertainment is included. Mini-bar, room service, and general room amenities are included. Pools, games, sports, exercise, and other activities on property, as well as non-motorized water sports are included.

But, just like at all all-inclusive resorts, there are some extras that are not included – but these usually go beyond the scope of what an average traveler would need.  These not-included services are:

• Spa and beauty services
• Shopping, pharmaceuticals, etc. 
• Ground Transportation (unless you’re traveling with a Tailored Travel Experiences wedding group!), car rentals, etc.
• Telephone calls outside of the property
• Laundry and dry cleaning
• Nanny / babysitting services
• Access to the resort’s wine cellars
• Some specialty wines, premium meat cuts, lobster, and a few select specialty dining options
• Double deck beach cabanas

Hyatt Ziva Cancun has 8 fantastic dining options and 7 bars, including an on-site microbrewery!

There are multiple types of international cuisine including Asian, Italian, Mexican, American, French, as well as a sweet shop, grab-and-go options for convenience on a beach or pool day, and more!

I especially love the Chef’s Table – a specialty dining experience ($) for up to 12 guests that takes you through a delightful six-course meal, paired with signature cocktails, handcrafted beers, and delectable wines. 

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is a fabulous option for those looking for fantastic food, drinks, and outstanding service.

Room Categories at Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Hyatt Ziva Cancun has a few different buildings, each with their own, unique room categories.

The Pyramid Building is nestled between the ocean and an on-site dolphin habitat and offers a multitude of room categories, including some “dolphin view” of the dolphin habitat just next to the building, and “light house view” rooms, of the resort’s fabulous light house!

The Turquoize tower is for adults only, and offers a variety of rooms – all free from children, if that’s what you’re looking for. 

Finally, the Club Tower is a building full of Club Level rooms with upgraded amenities and services provided to those guests who choose to upgrade to Club Level!

Extras at Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Cabanas by the beach can be pre-booked up to 30 days in advance. And these aren’t your grandma’s cabanas! They’re luxurious and offer privacy, special “Grill BBQ” service, and drinks throughout the day. This is a real treat for couples, families, or wedding groups who want to share some space outside and elevate their stay!

For the adults, there is an exclusive infinity pool with a DJ on Tuesdays and Thursdays on the rooftop of the adults only Turquoize building, plus beachfront firepits!

For an additional charge, guests can perfect their swings with the Mulligan’Z virtual golf simulator onsite. This is extremely popular for groomsmen and wedding parties, especially on the day of the wedding before getting ready!

Evening Entertainment and Activities

Every night of the week offers a new experience at Hyatt Ziva Cancun!  There are live musicians, dancers, aerialists, silent discos and dance parties! There’s always something fun happening in the evenings – for adults and kids of all ages!

Night Life at Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is not known for its on-site nightlife. If you’re looking for a resort that has nightlife on site, this is not the place for you. 

There’s one bar that stays open until 1 am – Saasil Bar. Other bars close at 11 or 12 (or earlier). 

No nightclubs are available on property. 

However, the resort’s location makes it extremely convenient to pop into town to go to any of the fabulous nightclubs in Cancun! 

How’s the beach at Hyatt Ziva Cancun?

Hyatt Ziva Cancun is unique, with two stunning beaches! Each offers soft, white sand and clear, turquoise waters!

On one side, you have a massive beachfront, shared with the Cancun Hotel Zone. During the day, this beach can be a bit busy – but you still have the distinct advantage of being at the very end of the beach. Most vendors and general noisy people tend to be further down the beach, in the midst of multiple resorts. The waves here can be a bit large, but there are lots of beautiful, green flag days to enjoy!

On the other side is a gorgeous cove with calmer waters. This is the perfect place for swimming, or for families with kids to play without fear of massive waves. Here you’ll also find a dock, making day trips and excursions super convenient! No more taking a cab to a dock and then boarding your boat – you can just walk out of the resort and hop right on! 

In short – the beaches at Hyatt Ziva Cancun are plentiful and absolutely stunning. The turquoise waters and endless ocean views will ruin you for all other resorts!

The Pools of Hyatt Ziva Cancun

There are three beautiful infinity pools at Hyatt Ziva Cancun available to all guests, as well as two large hot tubs. All five of these overlook the beautiful, turquoize ocean!

From November to March, pools are typically heated, depending on the weather.

There is also a small waterpark for kids, found within the kids club. 

Hyatt Ziva Cancun Zen Spa

The fabulous Zen Spa at Hyatt Ziva Cancun features hydrotherapy circuits, beachfront massage options, and a full range of treatments from massages to facials, beauty treatments, skincare, aromatherapy, manicures and pedicures, and more!

It’s a fabulous option for anyone seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, which can add such a magical touch to an already special (but certainly busy) wedding week!

Bridal Suite & Groom Lounge

Hyatt Ziva Cancun offers both a bridal suite and a groom’s lounge that can be rented on the day of your wedding, so you and your wedding party can relax and get ready together!

The Bridal Room starts at $719 for up to 8 guests, to be used from 9 am – 5pm. This beautiful room includes two bottles of champagne (they’ll provide a few options), assorted appetizers, and juices for the group. It has numerous mirrors, several salon chairs, and other comfy places to sit, sip, snack, and relax with your girls!

The Cave is a super fun room at the Mulligan’Z Golf Simulator Studio for the groom and his party. It starts at $769 for up to 9 guests, and includes: 1 bottle of alcohol (pick from vodka, whiskey, rum, or tequila), 1 bottle of champagne (they’ll provide a few options), beers for the group, and 1 hour of chicken wings, burger sliders, french fries, and ceviche shooters. 

Let’s be honest, it just doesn’t usually take men as long to get ready as it does women – so this is the perfect place for them to relax, play a few virtual rounds of golf, enjoy food, drinks, and hype up the groom for his big day!

If you wish to reserve one or both of these pre-event spaces for your destination wedding party, be sure to let me and your on-site wedding coordinator know as early as possible, for the best chance of availability. 

Kids Club, Teens Club & Babysitting Services at Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Hyatt Ziva Cancun does offer a KidZ Club for children 4-12 years old. Here, they are supervised and able to play games in the pool, play in the kids’ mini water park, do arts and crafts, or beach excursions with the trained staff members! 

There is also a Teens Club, the @Moods Lounge, for 10-17 year olds. There’s plenty of comfy space to relax, play video games, play in the pool, and general hang out and socialize with their new friends!

Hyatt Ziva Cancun Gym

If you’re looking to keep up those good habits and get in some workouts while in Mexico, the gym at Hyatt Ziva Cancun has a lot to offer! 

There are many treadmills, ellipticals, rowing machines, free weights, cable machines, benches, dumbbells, auxiliary equipment, and more! 

Plus, they offer a full schedule of guided exercise classes: yoga, crossfit, aqua combat, aqua cycling, pilates reformer, trampoline class, Tabata, boxing, abc clinic, fitness challenge classes, and more!

If you’re someone who likes to workout on vacation (or just someone with the discipline to keep it up!) the gym at Hyatt Ziva Cancun has got you covered!

Excursions To Take from Hyatt Ziva Cancun

Do you like to venture off-property for some local adventures when you’re in Mexico? I’d definitely recommend it! There are so many fun things to do that are so close and convenient from this Cancun Hotel Zone area in general – and the ones that involve boats are even more convenient, since Hyatt Ziva Cancun has a dock right there on property!

Below, I’ll share some of my favorite excursions to take when staying at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, including links to companies I use and trust. 

Please remember that if you book an excursion on your own, you need to ensure that you’ll be picked up in the correct location – at the resort. It’s not enough to just say you need to be picked up “in Cancun” – that might leave you scrambling for a cab to get to the meeting point for the start of the trip.

If you or your guests want to take an excursion for a few hours, but don’t want to lose an entire day at the resort, a half day excursion in Cancun may be exactly what you need!

Half Day Excursions from Cancun

These are some of my favorite half day excursions in Cancun, which are easily accessible when staying at Hyatt Ziva Cancun.

• Isla Mujeres
  • Isla Mujeres is an island just off the coast of Cancun. You can visit the actual island for the parks, the beach clubs, the bars, or just to rent a golf cart for a few hours to drive all the way around the island.
  • You can also take water-centric excursions around the island, such as snorkeling tours, catamarans, and more!
• Clear Boat Tours
• Catamaran trips that could include snorkeling, snacks, drinks, or even a ‘booze cruise’
• Swimming with whale sharks (only during whale shark season in the summers)*
• Cooking Classes
• Food Tours
• Tequila Tasting
• Jungle Speed Boat
• Golf – there are lots of excellent golf courses nearby!
• El Meco & El Rey Ruins
• Isla Contoy
  • Isla Contoy is another fabulous island a bit farther north, and offers beautiful beaches, snorkeling excursions, and more!

Wedding Packages

There are five wedding packages at Hyatt Ziva Cancun, and one site inspection package so you can check out the resort before you make a decision!

The smallest package is a “free wedding” for just the two of you – a simple elopement package with some basic wedding inclusions.

From there, the wedding packages’ included guest counts and number of inclusions increase to 10 guests, 20 guests, 40 guests, and 48 guests. But never fear, while each package includes a specific number of guests, you’re more than welcome to add additional guests for a per-person cost.
