Jeremiah and Candy were on the hunt for a beautiful, affordable, and luxurious all-inclusive resort for their dream destination wedding, and absolutely found it in Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres!

This resort is one of my favorites, and right away, I knew it would be perfect for this beautiful couple!

This property is stunning, due in part to the GORGEOUS stretch of beach that is Costa Mujeres – a wide, white-sandy beach that’s right across from Isla Mujeres. The proximity of the island is great for several reasons, including that it blocks lots of the waves and sargassum, leaving calm water and less sargassum in Costa Mujeres!

Plus, Isla Mujeres makes for an amazing day trip – whether you want to have a Catamaran trip like this wonderful couple, go snorkeling, tour the island, or rent a golf cart and explore, there’s something for everyone. And when it’s that close, you can spend even more time having adventures, and less time getting to and from your excursion point!

But let’s get back to their beautiful wedding!

They got married under the beach gazebo, which of course is absolutely beautiful!

I love this beach venue at this particular resort, because it doesn’t really need any added decor; it’s already so lovely on its own!

Then they headed up to the Piano Bar patio for a reception that was truly “them” – from fire dancers to fun friends, Candy and Jeremiah danced the night away during their dream wedding night at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres!

Planning a Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres Wedding

Now that you know they had an amazing time, let’s get into their destination wedding planning process. I asked them a few questions, and am excited to share their answers with you!

Before and After – Fears vs Advice for planning a destination wedding

Before we started working together, what were your biggest fears about planning your destination wedding?

“Prior to working with Allison and Tailored Travel Experiences, my biggest fear was trying to coordinate the travel and expenses of all of my family and friends attending my wedding.”

This is a super common fear, and probably what drives most destination wedding couples to hire an expert travel advisor. And it should scare you a bit, if you’re trying to do this on your own. Planning a destination wedding is a full-time job.. and you already have one of those!

Was there anything about your final destination wedding experience that surprised you?

“How amazing it was! I didn’t expect for everything to go as smoothly as it did.”

I was sooo happy to hear this answer from the Davisons! Of course I put in a lot of behind-the-scenes work to make this happen, as did the on-site wedding team, and it is incredibly satisfying to hear that things really did go as planned, and the entire event felt smooth and seamless!

Now that you’ve been through it all, what is your #1 BEST piece of advice for wedding couples who are just now starting the destination wedding planning process?

“Make sure that you make the planning process fun! Make it a date night and plan in quadrants. This day we’ll do guest list; next date night, we’ll tackle something else.”

Once again, Candy and Jeremiah were some of my favorites; because of course they’re planning and logistics nerds like me! We come from somewhat similar fine arts backgrounds, and their attention to detail and timeline was so refreshing after some time away from this crowd!

Splurging vs. Saving – Destination Wedding Edition

Did you splurge on anything wedding or travel related? If so, what did you splurge on, and was it worth it?

“I splurged on my dress. I definitely would go back and get a lighter, beachy wedding dress, but I chose my dress before we decided on a destination wedding.”

“Also, I splurged on fire dancers for our reception, which was awesome!!! Plus, we paid for welcome bags for our guests, who loved them!”

Sometimes that happens; you find THE ONE (dress) and absolutely fall in love. And as you can see, Candy wore the heck out of that dress! I know it was heavy, but she looked amazing!!

And I’m so glad they decided to splurge on something that would make their wedding interesting and unique.. and will definitely be remembered forever! Just watch their wedding video above if you don’t believe me! 😉

Did you try and ‘save’ on anything wedding or travel related? If so, what did you save on, and was it worth it?

“Flowers! I don’t care about them and felt like it was a waste of money and basic decorations.”

I hear this a lot in destination weddings – like I said before, the destination so often provides such a gorgeous backdrop, that couples don’t want or need to spend a ton to make the space beautiful.. that’s a lot of the point! 🙂

Feedback on Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres Wedding

If you could change anything with your wedding, the planning, day-of, resort, location, anything at all, what would you change?

“Planning was great! Maybe I should’ve given my guests a couple more months to save? But the location was amazing!! Honestly, I would invite way more people if I could go back now!”

I was so thrilled to hear that Candy and Jeremiah wouldn’t change anything about their wedding except to bring more people!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this group, and would’ve been thrilled to have even more of them traveling to this gorgeous destination wedding!

What kind of feedback did you get from your destination wedding guests?

“They said it was the time of their life! They were happy to celebrate us and also have a vacation. In fact, a lot of friends are now wanting to have a destination wedding!”

Again, I loved this group, so I was so happy to hear that they had an amazing time and want to go back for a destination wedding of their own!!

“OMG! Allison was so easy to talk to, is a great problem solver, and she handled the hard part of things for us! She created a super bomb website and was in charge of the guests, which was my main pre-planning stressor. Allison was definitely worth the investment; I’m so happy I stumbled upon you!”

🥲 Just shedding a tear over here.. I loved working with Jeremiah and Candy, and am thrilled they felt the same! I LOVE taking the weight, burden, stress, and research off of busy, amazing couples’ plates, and I am just so glad to have been able to do this for these two lovebirds!!!
