This is one of my favorite resorts for destination weddings, not just because of its beautiful wedding venues, but because the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres’ wedding package offers a greater possibility of customization than many other resorts’.
Rather than providing complete packages with the ‘big 3’ events – ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception – Majestic splits them up into multiple different packages, so you can truly customize your big day and spend what you want for the wedding day of your dreams!
The basic wedding options are listed below, but once you begin working with their wonderful weddings manager, Maria and her fabulous team, you’ll be able to make some tweaks and additions to your chosen package, so that you end up with exactly what you you want and need for your big day!
Along with the basic wedding package, you can choose options for each of these events that you want to include in your destination wedding:
- Cocktail Hour
- Reception Dinner
- Reception Party
Let’s dive in:

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres Wedding Package
This package includes what I consider to be the ‘bare minimum’ – and allows you to add on with each event listed below.
Here’s what’s included in Majestic’s Wedding Package
- Experienced wedding planners to guide you before and during your wedding day
- Ceremony performed by Civil Judge or Wedding Coordinator (depending on the type of ceremony you choose)
- Legal fees included for the Civil Judge
- Ironing of the couple’s wedding attire
- Refreshments for the couple on the wedding day
- Sound system & translation of the ceremony, if needed (civil ceremonies will be in Spanish, and can be translated if you wish)
- Tropical bouquet and boutonniere for the wedding couple, a tropical flower table arrangement, and a bag of rose petals for the ceremony
- Sparkling wine for all wedding guests after the ceremony
- Beautiful wedding cake
- Non-private dinner in one of our restaurants for up to 60 guests
- Room upgrade, plus early check-in and late check-out for the couple ** Subject to availability
- Special wristband for the wedding couple
- 10% discount on select spa beauty services for the wedding couple on the day of their wedding
- Welcome selection of handcrafted sweets
- Romantic breakfast in your room (1 time)
- Romantic candlelit dinner with sparkling wine for couple (1 time. This can be on the beach, pending availability)
- Complimentary massage for the couple + use of the hydrotherapy area
- Basket of fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine in your room
- Marriage certificate in Spanish for civil weddings
- Taxes are included
Documentation is required for this wedding package, including a copy of your marriage certificate or marriage license for a symbolic ceremony. Civil ceremonies’ documentation varies; the resort coordinator and I will help you understand these needs if you choose a civil ceremony.
Cost of Wedding Package at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres
- $1,250 for Symbolic Ceremony
- $1,750 for Civil Ceremony
Additional services can be added to this package, or services can be upgraded (i.e. non-private dinner for 60 can be upgraded into a private dinner for 80, using the dinner options below).
How to Get a Free Wedding at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres
Yes, there is an option to get the wedding package above for free at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, but I’ve never had a couple use it before. There are several stipulations and requirements you must meet in order to earn this free wedding, and the product that you get is lovely, but very basic.
Requirements for Majestic’s Free Wedding
- Book 15 rooms or more for 7 nights each
- OR book a total of 105 room nights (room nights = # of rooms booked x # of nights booked)
- All guests booked in these 15+ rooms must attend all wedding events.
Most people don’t travel with 15+ rooms of guests that can stay for a full week, so this usually doesn’t pan out. However, if it works out for you and your group, and you’re okay with the basic level of wedding events and items included, great!

Cocktail Hour, Dinner, and Reception Options
Unlike most resorts’ wedding packages, Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres’ wedding packages are customizable. The wedding itself is included, as you’ve already seen. Then you’ll add on each event that you wish to throw as well.
Here are some different options for your cocktail hour, dinner, or reception at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres.
Cocktail Hour options at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres
Depending on the time of your wedding ceremony, you might want to add a cocktail hour to your suite of wedding events, though some couples opt out of this at Majestic and let their guests grab drinks at their leisure at one of the many bars on-property.
If you choose to have a cocktail hour, it will be a non-private cocktail hour, and drink service will be provided by the regular bar staff at your chosen location.
It’s important to note that in order to book a cocktail hour for your wedding, the purchase of finger foods is mandatory, and your event may have to finish by 6pm, depending on location, so dinner can be served for other guests on property.
Cocktail Hour Finger Food Choices
Option 1 costs $8 per person, including kids, and includes
- 3 cold selections and 2 hot selections
Option 2 costs $10 per person, including kids, and includes:
- 4 cold selections and 3 hot selections
You can coordinate with the wedding team on which selections are available to you.
Next, there are 2 types of reception dinners, each with their own set of options
Non-Private Reception Dinner
Because a non-private reception dinner is included in the basic wedding package, you can celebrate with your guests at no additional costs, including up to 60 guests.
All non-private wedding reception dinners are available to start at 6:30 pm onward, and are available in a section of one of their on-site restaurants.
The menu will be set for your group, at no additional cost, for up to 60 guests. No modifications are allowed in the set menu.
The restaurant for your reception will be chosen at the last minute (usually the day of the wedding), based on the availability, reservations, and occupancy at that time.
Because the restaurant is shared with other resort guests, you will not be able to make any requests for music (songs, volume, etc.)
If your group is larger than 60 guests, you will incur a cost of $10 per additional guests, including kids.
Honestly, I don’t recommend this unless you’re traveling with a tiny group and truly don’t care what your wedding reception looks like. I strongly suggest going with one of the two types of private receptions below.
Private Reception Dinner
You may choose to have a private reception dinner only (no party), as long as you have a minimum of 20 guests.
There are 3 buffet menus available:
- Classy Buffet = $60 per person everywhere except the beach, and $70 per person at the beach
- Fancy Buffet = $75 per person everywhere except the beach, and $85 per person at the beach
- Luxury Buffet = $110 per person everywhere except the beach, and $120 per person at the beach
All menus listed above include:
- 3 hours of open bar service
- Basic set up (round white tables with white linens and chairs with white covers)
- Location rental (except the premium Sky locations)
- Service of waiters and a bartender
If you would like to extend your event, there is a cost of $15 per adult (18+) per additional hour.
Please note that private receptions in all open air locations must end by 11:00 pm, except for the ballroom.
The ballroom can offer receptions that extend past 11 pm, for a fee of $225 for set-up costs + $15 per adult (18+) per hour for the open bar.
Alternatively, they do offer other menu options such as the Dessert Station, a Taco Party, Indian Buffet, Mexican Buffet, and Plated Dinner.
They can even offer personalized coconuts for the wedding party as well!
Finally, you’ll want to consider your actual reception party – this will come after the dinner that you have chosen.

Private Reception Party Options
I strongly recommend having an actual party to finish off your perfect wedding day, particularly if you choose to have a non-private dinner.
Here are the custom Private Reception Party options at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres:
Custom Private Reception Party
With this custom reception option, you’ll choose your reception venue which will come with its own cost, plus the *mandatory* cost of an open bar. The premium, Sky venues have their own costs, as listed above in the venues section. The beach costs $400. And all other venues cost $300.
The open bar costs $15 per adult (18+) per hour.
The cost of a bartender is $10 per bartender per hour.
If you choose to bring your own bottles of wine or champagne, there is a corkage fee of $10 per bottle.
Additional liquor can be purchased by request.
Private Reception Party Package
This package includes all the essentials:
- Basic set up in white (round tables with white linens, chairs with white covers)
- Use of the venue
- Sound system (available to play your own music on a smart phone or laptop)
- Open bar for up to 60 guests
The cost of this Private Reception Party Package will depend on the venue you choose:
- Ballrooms or Piano Bar Terrace = $500 per hour
- Beach = $600 per hour
- If you want to add guests beyond the 60 included guests, that will cost $15 per additional person, per hour
These venues can all be used as early as 6:30 pm, but again, all outdoor events must end by 11:00 pm.
Music options are as follows:
- Sound system (1 speaker, mixer, and microphone) = $350
- DJ & MC &+ Sound System for 1-4 hours = $800
- DJ & MC + Sound System + 2 Robotic Lights for 1-4 hours = $1,050
- DJ & MC + Sound System + 4 Robotic Lights for 1-4 hours = $1,200
- Additional hours cost $170
There are many, many more options available for audiovisual services, furniture, decor, flowers, entertainment, photographers, videographers, and more. If we get to this stage of wedding planning, the resort wedding team and I will be sure to share these details with you! 😉
You are also welcome to hire an outside vendors in these categories. But remember that they will come with an outside vendor fee.
What is included in the basic ceremony set-up at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres?
Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres’ basic wedding ceremony set-up includes the garden or beach gazebo with white tulle, chairs with white covers, and a table with white linen with a tropical centerpiece.
While this is enough for some couples, most of the couples who work with Tailored Travel Experiences opt for a slightly more elaborate set-up, and will choose to upgrade to a higher tier of ceremony set up and decor.
What is included in Majestic’s basic reception set-up?
Similarly, Majestic offers a basic ceremony set-up, which includes a signing table (for guest books, cards, etc.) with white linen. They also provide round tables with white linens and chairs with white covers.
However, if you choose to have a non-private dinner, the decor provided will simply be the standard decor in the restaurant where your wedding dinner is confirmed.
If you choose to upgrade from their basic reception set-up (something I strongly recommend), they will offer a list of decor packages, based on your chosen wedding venue. I find that couples tend to like the ease and simplicity of being able to choose from a set list of options, rather than having to come up with a ‘vision’ on their own like we typically do for traditional weddings at venues in the states.
