You probably already know that Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres is one of my favorite resorts.* I’ve sent multiple destination wedding couples there, including Candy & Jeremiah, and have even been part of my sister-in-law’s wedding here, too! But did you know about the wide array of room categories that they offer at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres?

Get excited.. they’re pretty awesome.

Room Categories at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres

There are many different room categories available at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, which I will get into below, but there are also 2 main groups of room categories: standard rooms and Elegance Club rooms, which I will explain more below. The Elegance Club room categories come with additional amenities, butler service, and access to exclusive, club level areas of the resort.

GOOD TO KNOW: there are 3 total room buildings. 2 of those are for adults only, and 1 of which is family friendly. All Elegance Club level rooms will be found in the 2 adults-only buildings.

A Note About Bedding Types

Finally, an important note before I dive into the room categories available at one of my favorite destination wedding resorts – Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres. When you book your room, you’ll be able to make a bedding request, if you choose a room that has different bedding options. Your trusty travel agent will pass that request along, but note that the final decision and assignment of rooms falls on the resort.

All bedding requests are subject to availability at the time of check-in, and bedding requests are not guaranteed. So if it’s super important to you to have a certain bedding arrangement, be sure to mention it in your reservation and at check-in BEFORE the front desk staff assigns you a room. 

Another pro tip about getting what you’ve requested?

If you arrive hours early and want to check-in super early, the resort might assign you a room that is available, rather than what you requested. If you’ve got an important request, being flexible and willing to wait until the true check-in time will be helpful in your quest for certain bedding!

All Room Categories Are Similar

Yep! While there are certainly differences between the room categories at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, there are are also many similarities.

For instance, all rooms contain many of the same amenities.

All Rooms Contain:

• Furnished balcony with an outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed
• Open in-suite bathroom with shower and separated bathtub
• Air conditioning and ceiling fan (score!!)
• Smart TV, hair dryer, and garment steamer
• 1 bottle of sparkling wine at arrival
• Minibar with a daily replacement service of snacks and drinks
• Sofa and desk, Telephone,
• Free wi-fi
• Electronic safe
• Separate door for room service

Family Friendly Rooms and Building vs. Adults Only Rooms and Buildings

Just like their name implies, family friendly room categories are for guests of all ages! As I said before, only one of the three room buildings is family-friendly. So if your destination wedding group will be traveling with lots of kids, it’s best to try and book your rooms asap!

One major difference between the family friendly building and the adults only building is the inclusion of room service. Don’t worry – you can absolutely still have room service if you stay in a family-friendly room category. But there are a few extra rules in that building.

In family friendly room categories, room service is included in your stay from 6 am – 11:59 pm.

But from Midnight – 6 am, there is a $20 charge for coming to the family friendly building with room service. 

Most of the standard rooms are available in both types of buildings, for families and adults.

Alright, let’s dive into the standard room categories at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres!

Standard Room Categories at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres

Junior Suite

This room has the option for 1 King bed or 2 Double beds, and is 625 sq. ft. It’s an excellent entry-level room for those who want a fabulous vacation on a budget!

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor jacuzzi & lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum occupancy: 4
• This is the most affordable room at this beautiful resort, but still offers a spacious room, open bathroom, and beautiful view!

Majestic Junior Suite Swim-Up

Exclusively outfitted with 1 King bed (and no option for 2 doubles), this 725 sq. ft. room is beautiful! But remember, even though it says it can hold 4 guests… they’re still only going to give you 1 king bed, so plan accordingly!

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on the ground floor
• Direct access to either a private pool or the main building’s swimming pool, depending on room location, which is assigned randomly at check-in
• Outdoor jacuzzi & lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum Occupancy: 4
• This room is one of my favorites, as it allows for a luxurious, swim-up experience, even in the family-friendly building. I do encourage parents with small kids to be mindful when booking these rooms, so your kids don’t wander out of the back door and directly into the pool. 

One Bedroom Suite

Again, this room allows a total of 4 guests but offers 1 king bed only (no option for double beds). But it has 1 pull-out sofa and 1 murphy bed, and is slightly larger at 850 sq. ft.

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor jacuzzi & lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Living room and bedroom areas are separated by sliding doors
• Maximum occupancy: 4
• This is a great room for families who want ‘separate rooms’ for bedtime, without actually reserving two rooms. The sliding door allows for some separation and a bit of privacy, which can be rare in an all-inclusive resort!

Swim-Up Suite

These 1,000 sq. ft. rooms are gorgeous, and will give you immediate access to a pool right outside your back door. Next time I visit Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, this is absolutely the room category I’m choosing! It also offers 1 king bed, 1 pull-out sofa, and 1 murphy bed.

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on the ground floor
• Direct access to either a private pool or the building’s main swimming pool, depending on room location, which is assigned randomly at check-in
• Living room and bedroom areas are separated by sliding doors, and includes a half-bath 
• Outdoor jacuzzi & lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum Occupancy: 4
• This room is great for those who want extra space, extra luxury, extra private pool time, and extra doors separating you from your kids while they sleep 😉 

Sky View Suite

If you’re looking for a luxurious getaway for 2, this 1,025 sq. ft. room could be just what you need! With just 1 king bed, this spacious room is divided into two floors and includes your very own roof-top terrace. This is one of the most popular rooms among my destination wedding couples, and always sells out early. If you’re interested in the Sky View Suite, don’t hesitate in booking asap!

• Sky view
• Located on 5th floor, and is divided into 2 floors (main room, plus a large roof-top terrace)
• Double outdoor jacuzzi and large lounge bed on your large, private, rooftop terrace
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 
• This room has it all, a fabulous sky view (i.e. view of Costa Mujeres for days!), the jacuzzi, a separate, upstairs terrace, a large, spacious room, and everything you need for just the two of you!

Junior Suite Ocean Front

Finally, the room with most direct ocean views – the Junior Suite Ocean Front is one of the nicer room categories available at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres. At 625 sq. ft. with 1 king bed and direct ocean front views, you can’t go wrong here!

• Ocean Front View
• Located on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 
• This is one of the best rooms in the house! Because there aren’t too many ocean front rooms in this property, this one sells out quickly! My pro tip for you? At check-in, ask if you can get your ocean view room on a higher floor – that’s where the best views are! 😉 

Elegance Club Special Amenities & Access

At Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, the club level is called the “Elegance Club,” and is available only to adults (18+) staying in the two adults-only buildings.  Staying in a “club level” room comes with additional amenities, butler service, and access to exclusive, club level areas of the resort.

When staying in an Elegance Club room, you’ll receive some special amenities and services (if you choose to take advantage of them!), as well as access to some exclusive areas. 

Here are all of those fabulous perks that you’ll get if you spring for the club level room!

• 7 private swimming pools
• Private beach & Pool areas with Bali beds
• Personalized check-in with butler and tour
• Complimentary late check-out (based on availability)
• Exclusive access to a dedicated restaurant (Il Botaccio) for breakfast and lunch à la carte service
• Two exclusive oceanfront lounges with concierge services, library and table games
• À la carte lunch and breakfast are available in the exclusive lounges from 8am to 4pm

Remember, Elegance Club Rooms are for adults (18+) only!

How will you know if a room is club level or not?

It’s not about the physical room as much as it is about the amenities and access you get when choosing to spring for a club level room.

The best way to know will be in the name of the room – everything beginning with “Elegance Club _____” is in. The rooms without “Elegance Club___” at the front of their name? They’re out.

When you actually check-in at  ​Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, you’ll receive a wristband instead of a traditional key card. Those staying in an Elegance Club level room will just have a different colored wristband for easy identification around the resort, for access to any exclusive Elegance Club areas.

And before you ask… yes, they check. 😉

Elegance Club Junior Suite

The first Elegance Club level room is 625 sq. ft. and does have the option for 1 king or 2 double beds.

• Located on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor Jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 adults
• This is the most affordable, but still club-level room available; this is the most popular room I book for destination wedding guests

Elegance Club Majestic Junior Suite Swim-Up

A larger room at 725 sq. ft. with the option for 1 kind bed only, the beautiful Elegance Club Majestic Junior Suite Swim-Up is one of the most popular room categories at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres.

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on the ground floor, with direct access to either a private pool or the main building’s swimming pool, depending on location, which is assigned randomly at check-in
• Outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum occupancy: 2 adults
• If you’re looking to splurge and get a slightly bigger room with a swim-up option, this is a fabulous room choice! 

Elegance Club One Bedroom Suite

Even bigger is the Elegance Club One Bedroom Suite – clocking in at 850 sq. ft. This is another room that allows 4 adults in the room, but for some reason only offers 1 king bed. Yes, that’s crazy… don’t shoot the messenger. 🤷‍♀️

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Living room and bedroom areas are separated by sliding doors
• Maximum Occupancy: 4 adults
• This is a super popular room amongst wedding guests, but remember, it still only comes with 1 king bed, so I typically don’t recommend filling it to capacity!

Elegance Club Swim-Up Suite

The second-largest Elegance Club room category is the swim-up, offering 1,000 beautiful square feet to enjoy, with a pool right outside. Again, this room allows 4 adults, but only offers 1 king bed, so make sure you know what you’re booking before you do!

• Garden or pool view, assigned randomly at check-in
• Located on the ground floor, with access to either a private pool or the main building’s swimming pool, depending on location, which is assigned randomly at check-in
• Outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony 
• Maximum Occupancy: 4 adults
• I love this room for those who want to splurge a bit and enjoy the best of everything!

Elegance Club Plunge Pool Suite

The largest Elegance Club room category at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres is the Plunge Pool Suite. It’s also the TOP choice among my destination wedding couples for their wedding / honeymoon stay. This massive room is 1,025 sq. ft., has 1 king bed, and is two-stories! It includes the room itself, and the sky terrace above with your very own private plunge pool.

Traveling with your family and friends for your destination wedding is wonderful, but sometimes you need a little time to yourselves. This is the perfect room category that offers the best of both worlds.

• Sky view
• Located on 5th floor, and is divided into 2 floors (main room, plus a large roof-top terrace)
• Private Plunge Pool, outdoor jacuzzi, and lounge bed on your large, private, rooftop terrace
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 
• This room has it all, a fabulous sky view (i.e. view of Costa Mujeres for days!), your own, private sky plunge pool, and still has the jacuzzi, a separate, upstairs terrace, a large, spacious room, and everything you need for just the two of you!

Elegance Club Junior Suite Ocean Front

For those ocean lovers who don’t think they’re on vacation unless they look out of the window and see the ocean RIGHT THERE (you know who you are), this is the room category for you. This 625 sq. ft. ocean front junior suite stands parallel to the ocean on an upper floor. This means you can gaze straight out from your 1 king bed to see the beautiful beach of Costa Mujeres.

• Ocean Front View
• Located on 2nd, 3rd, or 4th floor
• Outdoor jacuzzi and lounge bed on furnished balcony
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 
• This is one of the best rooms in the house! Because there aren’t too many ocean front rooms in this property, this one sells out quickly! My pro tip for you? At check-in, ask if you can get your ocean view room on a higher floor – that’s where the best views are! 😉 

Elegance Club Plunge Pool Ocean Front Suite

If you’re considering a honeymoon at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres* this room category is the one for you. It offers the best of everything: club level room category, ocean front, 1 bedroom, 1,025 sq. ft., a two-story room with a private roof-top terrace, AND a private plunge pool.

I can’t think of a better room for a dreamy honeymoon at this gorgeous all-inclusive resort in Mexico.

• Sky and Ocean Front Suite (literally THE BEST VIEW)
• Located on the 5th floor, and is divided into 2 floors (main room, plus a large roof-top terrace)
• Private Plunge Pool, outdoor jacuzzi, and lounge bed on your large, private, rooftop terrace
• Maximum Occupancy: 2 adults
• This is the most coveted room at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, and for good reason! This room category literally has it all – the best views, the best location, a private, rooftop terrace and plunge pool, a giant room (great for getting ready on your wedding day!), and still has that jacuzzi and lounge bed, to make your luxurious wedding / honeymoon stay absolutely perfect!
